SCP: Blackout is a 2D puzzle adventure game designed as an educational tool. The player is guided throughout the game by Lana, a child who accompanies her friend Marco. The game utilizes primarily point and click navigation, and includes a few puzzle elements. At the beginning of the game, the player is given a singular goal: build a water purification system capable of creating clean water for Lana’s grandfather. In the year 2181, nine years after the E.D.N.I.S.A. (Environmental Disaster and Natural Incidents Simulation Automation) program, humans have almost entirely left Earth. On a small rescue station orbiting the sun, scientist and engineer Hunter Mooney is excited to learn that the mission to find water for her grandfather has been successful.
Unfortunately, the return of her family is cut short when a sandstorm sends her plummeting towards the desert below. Barely escaping, she continues on, only to run into her friend and co-worker, Marco, who has crashed his dune buggy into a cemetery. As the two work together to repair the buggy and face the mission in front of them, they must go on without help from any outside sources.
While they make their way through the desert, they encounter a few survivors from the beginning of the apocalypse, and meet another child named Lana. Together they slowly make their way to a city called New Atlantis, which is said to have water. However, the journey will be filled with challenges and obstacles, including the risk of getting caught by roaming bands of survivors, a gigantic spaceship that has crashed into a nearby mountain, and a bounty hunter in a speedboat.

Stories can be shared, and either cannot be read or can be read. Story Time Plus is developed as a cooperative project between the studio, a local high school, the University of Utah, and the Utah State University. Our developer’s other projects have been published in venues such as Abstraction Magazine, Drawn & Quarterly, and the DC Comics/Vertigo series: „52,“ „The Sandman,“ and „Fables.“
What’s included:

“Our next step is to start talking about some of the things we want to see in the game (and eventually the game). For instance, we’re thinking about allowing the player to include objects that can influence player-selected parts of the story, like special nouns that are set to happen on each and every occasion on which the noun occurs. We also want to add the ability to have multiple endings in the game (e.g. different ways of achieving your goal). So, the sky is the limit!”
