Opposition to road projects

I find it really sad that, here in Leavenworth, Wash., our local government has chosen to go ahead with the nearly $2 million upgrade of that stretch of State Route 22, a road that is already getting many traffic accidents and which locals drive on every single day to go to work, and to school.

This road is in rural Leavenworth, so, it’s not as if there are any neighbors being harmed by the plan, so far as I can tell, and I think that the plan will make it safer.

It’s just such a shame that the Spokane County Council, which is also in a political minority, did not listen to the people who’d been trying to tell them that they had been too fast and loose with the money in the past and were willing to ignore them.

I, for one, will probably be voting in the local election this fall and this is definitely one of the issues I intend to consider.
