Q:
Entity Framework not ignoring the value of a property with a very specific pattern (DateTime)
I am using Entity Framework (4.1) on a SQL Server DB to persist objects (C#,.NET 4.5) that contain a datetime property. (I am not using the asp.net entity framework.)
I have the following SQL Server table (can’t change it):
CREATE TABLE Foo
(
…
[LastUpdatedDate] [datetime] NOT NULL,
…
CONSTRAINT PK_Foo PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ([Id], [LastUpdatedDate])
);
I have the following classes:
public partial class Foo {
public DateTime LastUpdatedDate { get; set; }
…
}
public partial class FooType {
public DateTime LastUpdatedDate { get; set; }
…
}
Because the classes must be decoupled and there is a valid use-case for the datetime property on the Foo object not being updated, I think the correct way to update my (C#) objects is the following:
var foo = new Foo();
foo.LastUpdatedDate = DateTime.Now;
var fooType = new FooType();
fooType.LastUpdatedDate = DateTime.Now;
The problem is this. During the second object update, the update is running against the (correct) Foo type instead of the (incorrect) FooType type. (The project uses a DI

With the installation of new PCREALM Project in 2003, the old
partner Harddisk series has changed its name to CCRIORN
(Initials for three cities Ciriórn, Cambé and Rannálf)
According to our tradition, we choose a potato to represent
Cambé city, and a cinnamon to represent Rannálf city.
After twenty years, PCREALM is back with a new style of potato and
cinnamon.

People are dying – and millions are still left stranded on roofs, on highways, and in the wilderness. And with the health crisis behind it, the world seems desperate to forget the disease’s deep roots in the destruction of the rainforest, while migrants are still arriving daily from foreign lands, and the cost of keeping that arrival under control continues to seem enormous. Over 7 million Brazilians lost their homes in the flood that triggered the worldwide epidemic, and a huge majority were Indios – Indians – under the age of 30. Someone has to speak up and say there is more to the story than the World Health Organization can cover up so easily. Another emergency, another disaster.
Amidst the destruction of the trees and the investigation of the devastation of the weak and their children, another emergency, another disaster – a global economic one. Across the planet, an unprecedented thirst for natural resources is shaking the foundations of daily life.
Since the end of the cold war, growing demands for natural resources have focused on the environmental and social devastation caused by huge influxes of Western consumers. In a few short years, big business in the European Union (EU), the United States (US), Canada and Japan have seized cheap resources from just about anywhere they can get them. As well as the Amazon, the timbers of the former Yugoslavia, timber from Russia and Siberia, the coal and the oil of Africa and the gas and oil of the Arctic, all have been grabbed at an alarming rate. It seems the only way to stop the resource thirst, to halt the deforestation and to preserve the rainforest is to redirect the appetites of Western consumers away from these resources and toward ways of lower environmental impact that support many more people.
It doesn’t have to be either or. A better way exists – the belief that money should be derived from the creation of wealth that comes in the form of real products made from local resources, and the making of real relationships between people who live in distant places on this planet.
The world is in peril, no matter what one thinks, believes or thinks, about the Brazilian government and its international connections, its treatment of the victims of the one of the worst environmental disasters of the 21st century, and its
