The small and independent Nordic Mist Team presents Nature Defenders!

It’s been a long time since we’ve made a new game, but it’s time to bring it back, and this is our most original work. Nature Defenders! is a completely new idea, which is not a re-make of our previous games. Instead, this game was made in a completely new way. You are going to play as each of the 5 legendary characters from all of our previously made games, including Ice Hunters, Scorcher, Wishmaker, Thunderburg and Motex. Each one of these characters will have their own mission and their own storyline. You will need to recruit them and train them to defeat the challenges that each scenario brings to your way of life. Nature Defenders! is a unique adventure game that anyone can enjoy.

We are a small and independent developer with a one-man team, so we have to be very careful with our resources. We have created this game in Unity 5 and programmed it in C#/Mono. We are really excited for this project, since we are delivering it in a very short period of time.

What can you expect from it?

Nature Defenders! will have 3 different training levels. Different training levels means different damage levels, thus you will have to level your units. There will be more training levels in the future.

Sci-fi climate change tower defense game, where the nature is opposed to dangerous humans. Two species of animals, one aggressive (Earth) and the other friendly (Tear) are at war with humans for control of the Earth. Trees, herbs, small animals and insects must become allies to save the planet from total destruction. You will have to organize your towers according to the situation and grow trees or plants depending on what are doing the most damage to the enemy!

Gameplay

The game has action elements where the player can try different strategies such as changing the camera, or planting and harvesting plants (depending on the scenario). It is also possible to use an air strike, which costs energy. The game contains a system of health and your energy, both of which go away as time goes by. Having many plants or trees are not enough, because they start dying after a while. When enough of the animals disappear, the situation is lost, and the game is over.

Development

The game was developed in 3D and published for Xbox One, PC, Android, Nintendo Switch and other consoles. In an interview with IGN, Kaie Santos, co-founder of the game, wrote: „After finishing the first one and receiving great feedback from the community, the idea for the next game was born. Development was more complex than expected, but very fun!“. The game contains voices in the Portuguese language.

There is an experimental mode included in the game, which allows the player to find what keys he/she needs to input to perform actions in the game.

During the development of the game there was an open beta in December 2017. „The dev-team is currently working hard to bring it to the public as soon as possible!“. Kaie Santos, co-founder of the game, wrote.

Game can be played through a couple of methods. 1. When the game starts you have to choose which level you want to play. Choose one of five levels, rainforest, desert, tundra, forest or industrial.
2. At the download page you download the game and it is saved to your disk.
2. Play the game without opening the levels. Follow the instructions in level lobby. Press „Play“ button to start the game. As you run, the camera will switch between an overview camera for the map (a first person) and a game camera (third person) view.
3. Open the levels to play the game, it is recommended that you open and close the levels with the click of the mouse wheel.
4. When you start a level you get a little map overview of the start point. The start point is located in a central point in the level and is marked on the left side of the map. The start point is also the last point where something happens.
5. When you start the game there are a little robots in your line of defense which help you to find the enemies. In the base of the robots there is a button called „help“. When you press this button you get instructions on where and how you must help, and the robots will be activated.
6. You and your weapons have a health bar (don’t worry, you don’t get sick), and when you have any health left you use the energy of that health to take power ups and enter your weaponry.
7. The enemy robots have a health bar, but it is hidden. When they are hit they get grey, if they are not hit when they are grey, they come back to grey, when they have greyed down to the very end, they turn off.
8. The most important thing in the game is, that the enemy has AI, which means that enemy robots have a consciousness (or intelligence), and can think and react. Enemy robots will use their abilities like machines, changing their weapons when they are in different levels, or when they are hit. You can also hit or defend yourself at the same time as the enemy robots.
