Sound Borb is a music composition generator. If you’re into ambiences, you probably know that there’s a whole industry devoted to making and sharing them. Sound Borb takes a new approach to the genre – you start with a basic set of parameters. The system then chooses sounds for you and composes music on the fly. You just sit back, enjoy the ambience, and listen to the music. It’s like having a set of sonic tools, allowing you to build any audio, musical artifact you choose.

Sometimes, however, the real-time composition of ambient music isn’t the right use of those tools. I made Sound Borb to address situations like that, providing a workflow that doesn’t require you to participate in the composition. Sound Borb will play the first ‚loop‘ you give it, and that’s it.

There’s no interaction required of the user – Sound Borb uses internal algorithms to choose the sounds for you. The only parameters you have control over are the intensity and the overall volume. You still experience the music, but don’t have to listen to the music you like in order to enjoy the listening experience.

You can adjust the overall volume, the intensity (how much activity is occuring in the sound), and the happiness of the ambience. One of the better features of Sound Borb is the ability to keep Sound Borb playing a current background sound from the same ambience while you’ve got something else going on in the foreground.
