After purchasing and downloading its latest version 2.0, we can see that the developer has done a good job of improving on the first implementation of the program. I am particularly pleased to see the application no longer relies on Internet Explorer; the application is now self-contained. The menus have been improved with more options available and with a few new functions. The user interface is easier to understand as well, as the developer has included icons to make usage easier. Finally, version 2.0 adds proper Unicode support, which was necessary as the first release did not support Unicode.
StressMyPC requires Windows 2000 or higher; it has not been tested on Windows XP. Its latest version also requires IE4+ as the first release did not support any browser other than IE. It does not require Internet Explorer 6+, but IE7+ is required. All users are encouraged to upgrade, as version 2.0 is substantially more stable than the first release.
StressMyPC 2.0’s Interface
The main interface is simple and easy to use. The two icons in the lower right corner of the image on the right are the user interface for managing the profile and managing the status of the CPU and GPU. Using the first icon, we click on the profile, which adds that profile to the list of profiles available. There are three profile types: CPU, GPU, and GPU 2.0. The user can click on a profile to load or activate it. When it is activated, it appears in the list of the profiles available. The two icons at the bottom are used to manage the program’s execution of the stress test. The lower right icon is used to control the stress level. The upper right icon is used to select the mode. To activate a profile, use the upper right icon, and select CPU. Then select a profile from the drop down and click activate.
