## The Layers Panel

As you create a new image, the layers window appears at the bottom of the workspace. (On the Mac, click the Layers panel button at the bottom right to display it.) You may see different windowpanes when you first open Photoshop, depending on the options you’ve selected. A Layers panel may also appear automatically when you create a new document and have not yet added any layers to it.

Each layer has a unique color-coded icon and information label. Some layers, such as the Background and Crop layers, are color-coded according to color mode, whereas others are separate, making them easy to identify. Below, you see a simple, linear hierarchy of layers, with the top layer as the currently active layer. You may see many more layers than that.

Your most recently created layers are saved into a stack called the History, as shown in Figure 8-2. Layers created at a specific time in the past are stacked together in this order on top of the current layer. If you group layers, you can reorganize them on the History panel. (In the future, Chapter 21 talks about the methods that can be used to manage layers.)

Unreleased soundtrack features vocals by Ed Sheeran

Hideki Kanno’s (Fullmetal Alchemist) new film, The Extraordinary Journey of Mr. Akamatsu has recently premiered in Japan and now a soundtrack featuring a number of artists will be released this July.

The soundtrack features the following vocalists:

Akiko Nakagawa (5Stages)

Hiromi Iwasaki (The Buddies)

Nonoha (nonohaku)

The soundtrack will be released July 19th and the title track is titled, “Let Me Make You Come.”

The Extraordinary Journey of Mr. Akamatsu tells the story of a strange man who travels back in time with the hope of trying to become famous. It is directed by Hideki Kanno (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Ergo Proxy).

The film will be available in Japan starting August 7, 2015 at select theaters.

What’s New In?

Let’s talk about ducklings! You guys, I can’t believe it’s already that time of year again! Spring is fast approaching and with it comes Mother’s Day and ‘Have You Been to Bed?’ The easiest way to celebrate is by drinking an obscene amount of coffee and browsing your favourite boyband’s Instagram.

I don’t know about you, but I want to turn back time and witness the sweet, innocent innocence of boyband. Not because of some early-2000s nostalgia – although a little part of me does – but because it’s simply the best time of year.

Like, really! Everything’s new, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and I’m fortunate enough to be living in Wales right now, so we’ve had endless amounts of rain in the past week, creating a wet, muddy mess that’s pretty lovely to look at.

These are the best boyband pictures I’ve been able to find over the past 24 hours. From Scary Monsters – Scary Summer, I’m sure we’ve all seen them, to the most recent EP from Vibe.

For some reason, these pictures just make me think of a year without a boyband. Think about it. You have all of these beautiful, talented artists who, for a while, were the closest thing to being in the same room as a movie star. That feeling didn’t last too long, of course, but, for a short while, it was an enchanting illusion.

Nevertheless, new boyband evolutions are all around us now. Guys, I don’t know about you, but I’m going to do my best to stay afloat. I’m learning to relax and enjoy the presents that I’ve been given.

Let’s all pull together – are we making progress? Of course we are. It was a brief moment, but boybands are a part of British pop music and people have always loved them. They’re past their pompous, arrogant glory years, but, trust me, they’ll be back soon.

They just need a little more patience from the fans.
