# How to Use the Toner Selection Brush
The **toner selection brush** is the drawing tool for choosing pixels. You can use the selection brush to draw directly onto an image, or to select areas of an image by filling the brush with a color. You also can use it to select objects in an image, as shown in Figure 4-4. You can edit areas that have been selected with the brush by using the Eraser or other tools. The Brush settings can be adjusted to produce a wide variety of brush techniques and effects.
You can select a number of different types of brush sizes in Photoshop, ranging from 1 point to infinity. For best performance, I recommend picking a brush size of about 5 points. With this brush size, you can select a large or small area quickly.
The size of brush is controlled by brush size. Brush size determines the width of the stroke. The more brush size points, the larger the brush’s diameter. Small brushes can cover a small area of pixels, but they leave a lot of visible brush strokes. You can adjust brush size by pressing the or keys to change it. Press the Delete key to turn brush size up or down by one brush size point.
You can use the color picker to select a color for the brush. Simply click the color wheel, and the color wheel pops up, giving you the ability to select any color.
The brush settings include several special brush settings. Some colors add effects to the areas they cover; others clean up colors that might be embedded in an image; and some create solid or dotted lines.
You can change the brush’s orientation by going to the Select tool’s Options bar and clicking the Shape Flipper (indicated by the scissors

How to Use Photoshop’s Blur Filter
Browsing through the search bar, you will find the Blur filter located in the Filter category.
Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.
Most users find this filter easy to use.
When you apply this filter, Photoshop detects the area you have selected and applies a Gaussian blur (aka Gaussian Kernel) to this area, resulting in soft blurred results.
The amount of blur can be increased by increasing the Radius value.
The preview on the left side of the filter window shows the blur in progress. The preview changes when you drag the Radius value.
The Radius value is based on the percentage of the image that needs to be blurred. For example, a 50% radius would blur 50% of the image in the selection.
The following examples explain the Radius values in terms of the percentage.

As seen above, there is no maximum value.
By dragging the Radius slider, you can adjust the amount of the image that is blurred.
As you can see in the following image, the algorithm uses a larger radius value when the image has a low resolution. However, when the image has a high resolution, the blur radius is reduced.
The Top left of the filter window shows the radius.
Once you are done with the blur, you can adjust the Sharpen, Reverse, Invert, Shift, Levels, Hue, Saturation or Lightness, Color, Cast, Vignette and Grain options.
After adjusting the Filters settings, you can apply the filter by pressing the OK button.

Cerebral dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) are abnormal communications between a dural sinus and a cortical vein. These fistulas are classified by their location relative to venous sinuses of the brain. The majority of dural DAVFs are Type I (Type Ia DAVF) and arise from the transverse sinus (TS). Type II (Type Ib DAVF) originate from the occipital sinus, while Type III (Type IIIa DAVF) are from the sigmoid sinus. Type IV (Type IV) DAVFs are dural shunt communications between a meningeal artery and dural sinus venous drainage system \[[@B1]\].
In this report, we present a case of a patient with a Type Ia DAVF originating from the right transverse sinus draining into the superior sagittal sinus with cerebellar edema.
A 46-year-old woman presented with headache and dizziness for the past 2 days. For 5 years, she had no history of trauma and no neurologic abnormalities. She had a history of 10 pregnancies and a single cesarean section due to placenta previa. She had no history of any other medical problems.
On admission, she was alert and oriented. Her blood pressure was 150/100 mmHg, pulse was regular at 60/min, and she had no neurological deficit. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a hyperintense lesion in the right parietal lobe, and the patient was diagnosed with a right parietal lobe mass ([Fig. 1](#F1){ref-type=“fig“}). Her laboratory results were normal. She also underwent cerebral angiography on the same day. We immediately identified a draining vein in the superior sagittal sinus, which was classified as a Type Ia DAVF ([Fig. 2](#F2){ref-type=“fig“}).
Five days later, because of the patient’s deteriorating clinical status, she underwent a right transverse sinus transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure with transcatheter embolization of the feeding artery. During embolization, we identified a dural AVF (DAVF) arising from the right transverse sinus ([Fig. 3](#F3){ref-type=“fig“}). Therefore, we performed a shunt operation that combined
