The assault took place on Saturday afternoon at a home on Dorchester Crescent in the suburb of Marion.

Police said the victim was assaulted by a family member and two males aged between 18 and 19, who are related to each other.

He died in a nearby hospital soon after.

A 19-year-old and a 23-year-old were arrested over the death.

Police are still searching for a third man who allegedly drove the victim to the Marion home.

He left the scene before police arrived.

The 19-year-old was charged with two counts of assault occasioning death and is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court.

The 23-year-old was charged with one count of assault occasioning death.

Both men are Australian citizens.

Neighbours said they didn’t know what happened or why the assault happened at the family home, which has been cordoned off with crime scene tape.
