    „It’s A Different Entire World“

    The PS3/PS4/Wii/XBox version is another solid game from NIS America’s classic RPG brand. If you don’t already own Elden Ring on PS4, I’d say pick it up, especially if you love fantasy games. Despite being practically free, I’d still give the purchase a hard look though.

    The Elden Ring has been announced for the PS4, PS3, and Xbox One, which is a little odd given that the PS3 and Xbox One didn’t have the original game released. That said, it’s super exciting to finally play one of NIS America’s classic RPG series on the platforms it’s available on and I’m hoping that this doesn’t die out like their was with other beloved franchises such as Persona and P4F. Now we just need a new game to be announced for the PS Vita and we’ll be set.

    The PS3 and PS4 versions of the game got their first impressions recently via Game Informer (PS4-exclusive) and Destructoid (PS4-exclusive) and you can check out my thoughts on the game below. The Xbox One version is currently not available for review.

    The game is a bit different than previous Elden Ring titles, though. Yes, the world is still populated by evil creatures, but the story is set in a different era than the previous games. The world’s population has essentially been wiped out by the Gods, but the game’s ultimate goal isn’t the defeating of those Gods, it’s the ascension of the remaining humans who have been guided by the Gods into a higher stage of civilization. The development team wanted the game to represent a different era, but also have an original flavor compared to the previous games.

    I don’t think the team really nailed it perfectly, but I’ll get to that later. Here’s what we know so far about the game. The PS4, PS3, and Xbox One versions will have two modes to their game (story and free) as well as online play. The PS3 and PS4 versions are also exclusive to those two platforms.     Incredible. This is the first RPG from new developer that I have played. There was a lot of hype for this title, so I decided to buy this at the moment when the game was on sale for a limited time. You can kind of say that since Namco Bandai is sponsoring the title it has a better chance of being fun. With that out of the way let’s get into what the game is about.

    THE SHIRAISHI AND CREATURES

    The game is based in the world that was created by the famous designer of RPG titles such as Final Fantasy and many others, Mr. Hiroyuki Miyazaki. The design of the game is reminiscent of Final Fantasy, which is a very good thing. This is mainly due to the fact that the world seems like a copy of the game it was based off of. My biggest gripe with the game would be that it is a bit too traditional for a modern title and it is mostly linear.

    This has a lot to do with the main character your character. Your character is named Jakob and he has a parallel world with his home. In his parallel world he is a noble man that was disgraced to a lowly peasant farmer. He finds a way to get back into the upper class by using a weapon called the Shiraiishi. With the Shiraiishi he can raise a brand new creature called a Tarnished. While it has a parallel world it has no connection to Jakob’s world and it does not grant him any power or skills. There is no NPC that he can meet in the parallel world and the only item that he can get is the new armor called the Raging Armour. Jakob has to travel the world doing quests in order to raise these creatures and that is why the story is kind of linear.

    RICHES AND TREASURES

    While the game is fairly linear the item economy system is great and fun to use. You get XP from all the battles that you fight. The items that you can buy with those points includes new weapons and armor. You can also buy a kind of food called “Trial Points.” Trials Points have no real use and you can only use them to buy power items for your Tarnished which is basically all that you can do. It is a lot more character building than the adventure parts of the game. While
